POLICE: 27 Pounds Of Pot Found In Storage Unit

There's been a sizable pot bust with two people now in jail.

Havelock police say 27 pounds of marijuana, two stolen guns and over $5,000 in cash was seized Friday night at a storage unit.

Police have charged Dale Bishop and Marquis Ashley, bot of Havelock, with trafficking in marijuana, conspiracy, two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, two counts of possession of a stolen firearm, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A K-9 unit alerted lawmen to drugs in the storage unit at Plaza Mini Storage on McCotter Boulevard. Police then got a search warrant from a magistrate.

The two men are being held on $500,000 bonds.

The sell of alcohol is legal but you still have people making moonshine. Even if you make it legal and tax it you will still have people growing it and selling it illegally so they don’t have to pay tax on it. And every one is turning a blind eye to the fact they had two stolen guns. If every one smoking it is so nice why do all the dealers need guns??

If you put every drug known to man on the street corner it would solve this problem. This country will NEVER and I repeat NEVER STOP DRUGS as long as there is money to be made. Put it on every street corner and give it away when there is no money to be made in the sell of drugs the problem will solve itself. Of course there will be a few deaths along the way but if you do not take drugs you will not have to worry. Billons and billons of dollars already wasted on the war of drugs stop the insanity now. Give the drug addicts what they want. It will cut down on crime.

I'd find a better place to stash it than a storage unit,in the woods or hell anywhere would be better..

I don't mess with the stuff, but if illegal marijuana is an 87 Billion Dollar per year industry as the government says and people were allowed to grow their own that would mean that they wouldn't have to buy it and there would be 87 Billion Dollars per year that would be able to be spent elsewhere in the economy and they wouldn't have to make people criminals for doing it. Wouldn't that help things? And why should the government get any money from it? They don't tax or criminalize someone for growing their own food do they? The drug war is a mess just like the prohibition of alcohol was and we all know it's the illegal big money that is keeping it illegal just like it was with alcohol back in the day.

Make it legal. Let the buyers pay taxes. In parts of California (Mendocina) u can grow, sale and pay taxes. Other states allow this. Watched a program one night where a man grew, sold and paid a little over 1 million in taxes. Google Mendocina marijuna it will show pics of the farms and names of shops that sale it legally.

But the white man didn't resist arrest and fight with the officer. See the difference? And the guy that was busted that resisted only had a little bit of Pot...not 27 lbs. He'd probably have killed the officer if he caught him with 27 lbs.
