PCSO Graduates First Ever Citizen's Academy

For adults interested in learning the in's and out's of being in law enforcement you don't have to wonder anymore, you can actually learn about it from an officer.

Today 28 people graduated from the first ever Pitt County Sheriff's Office Citizen's Academy. It's a program that allows residents to take courses to learn firsthand about the day to day operations of deputies and investigators.

Graduates of the course say it was a great program and they learned a lot.

Academy graduate Peter Walston says, "We learned how the inner workings go, as far as what different departments do. They're not just on the road riding along in cars, there is a lot that goes on inside."

Academy graduate Sylvene Spickerman says, "I could sit through it immediately again, and learn so much more."

The sheriff's office says it does plan to hold more of these courses. The next program starts in September.
