There is new information on a deadly shooting last night in Onslow County.
Deputies say David Darling was shot and killed as he was attempting to enter a neighbor's home through a broken window. It happened around 9:00 p.m. on Fieldcrest Drive, outside of Jacksonville.
The fatal shooting is being investigated by deputies and the District Attorney's Office. The Sheriff's Office says the circumstances of the shooting will be considered as to how the state's castle doctrine might apply. That law allows people to protect their homes with deadly force, if necessary.
The Onslow County Sheriff's Office is investigating a deadly shooting that happened in Jacksonville Sunday evening.
Officials say the victim is a 22-year-old man.
The shooting happened at 9:15 p.m. on Fieldcrest Drive. Sheriff Ed Brown says one person from a home at 113 Fieldcrest went to the home next door and there was a shooting.
