One person was hospitalized Saturday morning after a three vehicle accident in Kinston.
Troopers say 17-year-old Kayla Capel was driving a mustang around 10:24 a.m. when she ran a red light at the intersection of Highway 70 and Meadowbrook Drive. They say she hit a Saturn as she attempted to make a left onto Highway 70.
Troopers say Capel then got out her car, but didn't realize her car was still in drive. The car then continued down Highway 70 without a driver. The car eventually turned into oncoming traffic and hit a BMW on Highway 70.
The driver of the Saturn was taken to the hospital. The driver of the BMW was not injured.
Capel has been charged with running a red light. The crash is still under investigation.
