More Charges Against Driver In Fatal Accident

There are now even more charges against a New Bern man after a deadly drunk driving crash in Pamlico County.

District Attorney Scott Thomas says Joshua Hardison has now been charged with two counts of aggravated felony serious injury by vehicle. Those charges stem because two passengers were injured in the January 21st crash on Creek Pointe Road.

Twenty-four year old Amber Jones of Grantsboro was killed in the accident and Hardison already faces felony death by vehicle and DWI charges from the accident. Thomas says Hardison's blood alcohol content was .13, while .08 is the legal limit in North Carolina.

A man already in jail charged with driving drunk in a Pamlico County fatal wreck, is now charged with causing the death of a woman in the car with him.

Investigators say the group was out mudding and were headed home when the crash happened.

Twenty-six-year-old Joshua Hardison of New Bern was charged Wednesday with felony death by vehicle for the early Saturday morning crash in Pamlico County on Creek Pointe road. Twenty-four-year-old Amber Jones of Grantsboro was killed.

District Attorney Scott Thomas says Hardison's blood alcohol content registered .13, A blood alcohol content of .08 and a person is considered impaired.

Thomas says after meeting with the investigating state trooper Hardison is now charged with aggravated felony death by vehicle, and more charges may be filed pending further investigation of injuries by other passengers.

Hardison is in the Pamlico County jail under a secured bond. His first court appearance is Friday.

PREVIOUS STORY:

One woman was killed and four others injured in a wreck early Saturday morning in Pamlico County. Troopers say the five had been mudding and were heading home when the wreck occurred.

The accident happened around 2 a.m. on Creek Point Rd. off of Lee Landon Road.

Troopers say Joshua Hardison was driving a 1995 Jeep on the dirt road when he ran off the road to the right and struck a tree. Troopers say Hardison had been drinking and it was raining at the time.

Amber Jones was killed in the wreck. Troopers say Jones was in the backseat of the Jeep on the right side.

Four others were injured, one of them seriously.

Hardison has been charged with DWI. Other charges are possible pending further investigation.

According to troopers Hardison was driving too fast for conditions of the road. They estimate he was driving around 60 mph.

Hardison has one prior conviction for DWI.
