A teenage driver has been charged after his SUV flipped over this morning in Onslow County.
The crash happened around 9:30 a.m. on Highway 17, south of Dixon High School.
One of two passengers in the vehicle, Chris Whitney, was sent to Onslow Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
The Highway Patrol says Paul Stock of Swansboro was charged with failure to maintain lane control. Troopers say the three were coming back from Wilmington when it appears the driver fell asleep.
The 18-year-old driver ran off to the right, the tires got caught in soft sand and the SUV flipped over. Troopers also cited Whitney for not wearing a seat belt.
