According to New Bern police a man driving a stolen vehicle is dead after he crashed into another vehicle Saturday afternoon.
Officers say it happened around 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Simmons Street and Oaks Road in New Bern.
Several witnesses told police they saw a Chevrolet Malibu traveling north on Simmons Street and speeding through a stop sign, then colliding with a Chrysler PT Cruiser.
Police say the driver of the Malibu, Victor Ingram of Wayne County, was not wearing a seat-belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers have determined the Malibu had been stolen out of Goldsboro. Officers say alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.
The driver of the PT Cruiser was treated and released from the hospital.
Officials have not released the names of those involved.
