With gymnastics as a fan favorite of the summer Olympics and Team U.S.A.'s men and women both with strong teams, one local gym is seeing the benefits of the sport's added exposure.
Rose Gym owner Darlene Rose says Greenville has always been a great place for gymnastics, but every four years during the summer Olympics, their enrollment increases by over 30%.
The little ones at Rose Gym, like 10-year-old Baily Bonn, are looking to accomplish big things. Bonn says, "I wanna go to the Olympics one day."
Rose says, "They're hearing about these little gymnasts and seeing them. And suddenly, gymnastics becomes one of these glamour sports. And they think "Oh, that's something I'd like my child to try."
Rose says she's glad that the sport is getting added exposure and says having a talented U.S.A. Team certainly doesn't hurt.
Little Bailey Bonn told us that since she's only ten, she's shooting for the 2020 Olympics in 8 years, when she's 18.
