Officials Calling Two Abandoned Mobile Home Fires Arson

Officials believe two abandoned mobile home fires in Beaufort County on Saturday night were arson.

The Chocowinity Fire Department was called out to the fires on Pollard Rd. around 6:30 p.m. Saturday night. They say no one was living in the homes which are located right next to each other.

Fire Chief Tommy Pendley says both homes were completely destroyed. No one was injured.

Pendley says the Beaufort County Sheriff's department will now takeover the investigation. No word on whether these arson could be connected to other recent arson in the county.

A propensity for starting fires maliciously is a psychological disorder. It is one of three behaviors described by the MacDonald triad that isolates key behaviors that have been linked to serial killers. Makes you think with all the recent arsons in the county.

If it was an attempt to collect insurance money, it should be pretty easy to get them for fraud. If they trailers weren't occupied, they were probably in such a shape that they weren't that valuable. So if someone took out insurance on them, that would be suspicious to me.
