A police officer shot in the line of duty plans to speak publicly about the ordeal for the first time Monday.
Roanoke Rapids Police Officer John Taylor returned to work recently after the traffic stop that changed his life in November. He was shot three times when he pulled a car over on I-95. The suspected gunman shot and killed himself, another suspect faces related charges.
Court records show the people in the car, Michael Edgerton and Renee Phillips, had been labeled fugitives after skipping a court hearing over a stolen car in Pennsylvania. Edgerton was found dead the day after the shooting; officials say he took his own life. Phillips was taken into custody.
The question and answer session with Officer Taylor will be at 10 a.m. Monday.
