Observant Neighbors Help Law Enforcement Catch Criminals

People fed up with crime in their neighborhood are keeping a watchful eye and helping law enforcement track down suspected criminals.

In the past four weeks residents in the Silverado mobile home park in Grimesland in Pitt County had two shootings and about seven break- ins.

Landlord Tony Buck sent letters to residents about his efforts to combat crime by contacting the Pitt County Sheriff's Office and asking residents to report suspicious activity.

Deputies say they were able to catch four people and a juvenile for a shooting two weeks ago, thanks to observant neighbors.

These four people were arrested and charged with several crimes, including assault with a deadly weapon, and robbery. They're all in the Pitt County Detention Center.

Way to go folks. Just remember, when seconds count, the police are only minutes away. I know it's a tired old quote, but it still applies...
