ONWASA Executive Director Suspended With Pay

The Executive Director of Onslow Water and Sewer Authority, Jeff Pearson, has been suspended with pay until another hearing on the matter Thursday, February 10th according to ONWASA spokeswoman Susan Poole. The decision was made in a closed-door session Friday.

Pearson's two-year employment contract expired this week, but no reason was given for Pearson's suspension.

The City of Jacksonville was asked to provide an interim director and asked Public Services Assistant Director Billy Joe Farmer to step in starting Monday. Farmer is a former employee of Onslow County where he directed the utility assets before they were transferred to ONWASA. He also served as town manager for Richalnds, Holly Ridge and Red Springs, and as county manager for Columbus County.

This is so typical with government. A person's Run contract runs out, they're embattled, so what does government do? suspends the individual with pay. If this mans contract has run out, then he should be gone right? No huge severance, no goodies, no closed door good old boy meetings, with, "Don't worry Bubba we'll hook you up down the road when the taxpayer isn't looking. Grrrrrr, open and transparent government with closed door meetings.
