North Carolina's health agency has a new Medicaid director by expanding the responsibilities of a physician already working on Medicaid issues.
Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Aldona Wos (vahsh) announced Tuesday that Dr. Robin Cummings has added a new title as director of the Division of Medical Assistance. He succeeds Carol Steckel, who left last fall to take a job in the private sector. An acting DMA director was in place until now.
Cummings came to DHHS last year to lead the Office of Rural Health and Community Care. He became acting health director, then deputy secretary for health services. Wos told employees by email it was a natural transition for Cummings to become DMA director.
Cummings will keep the health director and deputy secretary titles.
