No Body Scanners Or Pat Downs At Some Regional Airports

It's possible local regional airports could see a bump up in traffic as passengers look for ways to avoid body imaging scanners and pat downs.

Pitt-Greenville Airport is among the smaller airports in Eastern Carolina that do not have the newer security measures in place that are coming under fire from some.

Airport director Jerry Vickers says, "We recognize once you get in the system here, what ever our screening technology, you in the system everywhere, so it's important for the smaller airports to have the same procedures. You may not have the same technology, the same level of comfort that everyone is safe."

Vickers says he expects the body imaging machines to be installed within a couple of years.

To "Just A thought"--you have hit the proverbial nail on the head. Bring on the dogs & ramp up profiling!

Just A thought, thanks, finally someone who gets it. The terrorist just won this battle...again. As always, the dems have imposed on our 4th amendment. They certainly don't mind taking away freedoms or ignoring the constitution, afterall, they are just communists. (for data man). The point is, no matter what we do, its not going to be enough until we used bomb sniffing dogs and profiling.

We all want our planes to be safe, but keep a few things in mind: No security checkpoint has ever stopped a terrorist attack. People on airplanes have stopped every single one of the (the "shoe bomber", the "underwear bomber") Countries such as Israel deal with the possibility of terrorism on every single flight that departs, yet they maintain a 25 minute curbside-to-gate-arrival standard without ever touching anyone using a very different approach (and they're scratching their heads at our feebles attempts at security at this point). On a side note, studies have shown that dogs can sniff out any sort of bomb or bomb-making material better than any scatter X-Ray or manual search. The makers of the security machines have spent unheard of amounts of money (to Congressmen) to support their machinery. (They've been bought. Sorry.) If I were a terrorist I wouldn't bother with airports at this point. How about every other possible gathering place for people? Malls? Concerts? County Fairs? We could brainstorm all day - which is what they are doing. So while we are molesting good Americans who pay these people, we're missing the entire point of "looking for terrorists". They're laughing at us because we've now lived in fear and willfully given up our rights for over ten years. Government - please try to pretend you're smart. Please.

I swear you just let people know are secrets. This article is just inviting terrorists to go through this airport. "Open invitation come to our airport we will just let you on. No pat downs or body scanners here" Just stupid. I have always woundered the news will report on something giving instructions to these people. Let it be secret and maybe more terrorists will get caught.

This is so stupid! I dont know why the republicans are killing this country like this!

Nothing in this article is giving terrorists any idea they do not already have. It is a fools argument that the only way you can fly safe is to have your genitals touched or photographed. No other country has this level of security and they do not have the terrorist problems. Why? They profile like most logical and rationale people do everyday.

TO ScanbabyScan....I agree, I would think that there would be no complaints about this. Ask yourself this question? Do I want to die, on this plane? If the answer is NO!!! You should be saying the same scanbabyscan away!!!

I'd rather be scanned or frisked than have my loved ones rely on dental records to identify my blown up remains. We are our own worst enemies. Lord help us.
