New Stoplight, Parking At PCMH

Drivers in Greenville may notice a new traffic signal at the intersection of Stantonsburg Road and W.H. Smith Boulevard near Pitt County Memorial Hospital. The hospital's press office says a new section of Hospital Loop Road leads people to the entrance of the parking lot in front of the PCMH rehabilitation buildings.

This is phase one of a nine-phase project.

People coming to the Regional Rehabilitation Center can now take advantage of expanded parking close to the building, including more handicapped parking spaces close to the building.

The South Gate entrance will continue to be accessible to rehab patients and families who want to try to park in the lot right in front of the Rehab Center's main entrance. Parking in that lot is free. In a few weeks, the parking spaces closest to Stantonsburg Road will be closed.

Patients may want to be dropped off or use the free valet service at the Rehab Center.

A new drive-way entrance to outpatient rehab will be located off Service Drive.

Frances, you are right. When I was in the hospital, they were trying to get me to go to a nursing home because it was taking some time for me to progress. I was a 25 year old healthy man that took the h1n1 vaccine and was paralyzed. Since I wasnt making progress fast enough and didnt have health insurance because I had graduated 9 months before from ECU and didnt have a full time job, they were going to try to make me go to a nursing home. If they're not making money off of you, they don't want you there.

Frances, you are absolutely correct! They lose money on unhealthy people and write off millions of dollars in unpaid hospital bills. I can see why we would want everyone to be sick!

Hospitals don't make money off healthy people.

You're so right fed up because people going to physical rehab need to be walking or riding their bikes to their appiontments. I swear some people don't even think before posting on this site. The hospital is trying to make things better for handicapped and rehab patients and people still complain.

More free car parking means more people driving, more congestion, more oil addiction and pollution, and less healthier people. One would think that a hospital would encourage healthier habits by encouraging people to walk and bike more.

Anonymous, I think Kimo is talking about UHS. They are currently buying a lot of hospitals in Eastern Carolina.

Great. When they take over our hospital, maybe they will add a stop sign for us perhaps at the parking lot entrance.
