The numbers are really taking off at the Pitt-Greenville Airport. The airport says in 2010 they set a new all-time record for passenger traffic.
PGV served 63,702 departures and 63,978 arrivals, an increase of just under 5% over last year. The previous record was set in 2009 which saw an 11% growth rate from the year before.
Airport director Jerry Vickers attributes the growth to competitive fares and that the airport offers comfort and convenience that's not available at the larger airports.
Last month the airport opened an expanded renovated terminal. The new facilities includes an upstairs departure area, expanded security lanes, two gates instead of one and a new waiting room.
