Fire works finale at 9:00...Are you serious??...does everyone need to get to bed or do you have to work tomorrow...give me a break. Live a little bit New Bern. What happened to the New Year at 12:00:01. I need to get out of this city. Money wasted...I agree.

New Bern is poised to use its rich heritage and picturesque use of its river and beautiful downtown to become an attractive place to live and grow business- things like civic celebrations tend to attract folks to cities like this and also contribute to livability scores in various ways. This celebration is absolutely worthwhile and I look forward to seeing New Bern thrive as one of North Carolina's most interesting towns. It is inspirational to see an eastern NC city using something other than bars and nightclubs and uncontrolled sprawling development.

The whole "celebration" was a waste of money. Just the ultra rich stuck up snobs in down town wanting to show off how they wasted the tax payers money, replanting all the shrubs on the on ramps, turning a 4 lane street back to a 2 lane, a multi million dollar history center. All such a waste.

I can think of a bunch of things New Bern could use the money for. But, please...go party on the city's dime.
