Burglars managed to escape the apartment the were breaking into after a neighbor walked in and fired shots.
Winterville Police later arrested four people, and charged two of them with breaking and entering. The other two face probation violation charges.
Greenville police say the break-in was reported in progress at 3923 Sterling Pointe in Greenville. After hearing loud noises from inside an apartment, police say a neighbor used a key to enter the apartment.
When confronted by one of the burglars she fired two shots but missed.
Witnesses reported seeing a silver Altima speeding away from the area. Winterville Police spotted it a short time later.
William Harris-Blount, 18, was arrested and charged with breaking and entering, larceny, and possession of marijuana. Kenquasis McKenzie, 18, is charged with breaking and entering, larceny, and resisting a public officer.
Twenty-year-olds Raphael Carmon and Kenquonis McKenzie were questioned, arrested and booked on probation violations.
The victim's 19-year-old son, Brandon Sutton, was also arrested and charged with possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana.
