Nash County Plane Crash Injures Pilot

A single-engine plane crashed this afternoon in Nash County.

Authorities say the four-seat Ryan Navion B aircraft is registered to Von Roger Shanks of Nashville. Only one person was on the plane when it crashed in the woods off Highway 43 north of Red Oak. It happened around 12:15 p.m. near a private airport.

The Highway Patrol and the Nash County Fire Marshal are investigating the crash. The name of the pilot, nor their condition has been released.

The F.A.A. tells WITN News that the plane crashed under unknown circumstances.
