It may be September, but in a handful of municipalities, that means it is time for early voting.
One-stop early voting starts Thursday for New Bern's 2013 municipal elections. The big race in New Bern this year is for mayor as six candidates are vying for that position. Aldermen are also up for election.
Those wishing to cast one-stop, early ballots may do so on the 1st floor of the Craven County Government Administration Building at 406 Craven Street.
Also, voters in Atlantic Beach, Elizabeth City, Rocky Mount and Sharpsburg will also elect municipal officers.
One-stop voting is open Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. and one Saturday date is scheduled for October 5th from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Election day for these municipalities will be on October 8th.
The newly passed voter ID bill does not take effect until 2016 so voters do not have to show identification at the polls.
