North Carolina authorities staged a wreck between a car and a train in Rocky Mount to create a training video to help local emergency workers.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation's Rail Division and State Troopers spent two days starting Sunday on the mock crash.
Rail Division Engineering and Safety Manager Paul Worley says investigating a collision between a train and car is much different than investigating a collision involving just cars or trucks..
Worley says the video will teach local officials how to clear the tracks quickly so trains can keep running while also conducting a proper investigation.
Troopers will also use the staged crash to emphasize safety at rail crossings.
