NC Seafood Festival Unveils 25th Anniversary Poster

The North Carolina Seafood Festival is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, which is why organizers chose a special artist to paint this year's poster - the same artist who painted the first poster back in 1987.

Alan Cheek says he was honored to paint the picture, which depicts a commercial fisherman. Cheek says he incorporated the names of the boats from the first poster into his latest creation, and says the painting also pays respect to all of the past seafood festival artists.

A special side-by-side print of the first and 25th poster is being sold, along with prints of cheek's latest painting. The seafood festival is scheduled for September 30 through October 2 in Morehead City. WITN is a proud sponsor.

Congratulations Alan on a beautiful painting that shows a fastly-disappearing way of life in Eastern North Carolina.

thank a commerical fisherman at these events if you eat any seafood, looks like theyre becoming a dying breed with the up and coming bill trying to ban the drum, rock and trout to hook and line fishing only. sounds selfish to me!
