The North Carolina House of Representatives has a new Republican in the Sixth District seat.
Many hand shakes were in order after Republican Bill Cook was sworn in to the House of Representatives at the Washington District courtroom on Wednesday night.
Familiar faces like Republican District Five Senator Louis Pate, along with Cooks campaign staff, attended his big night.
A reception followed at the Meeting Place restaurant in Washington where many supporters got a chance to speak with their new representative.
Cook says he will focus on lowering taxes and helping jobs and small business flourish.
Cook defeated incumbent Democrat Representative Arthur Williams in November.
