Camp Lejeune Marines Positioning For Possible Libya Mission

Marines from eastern carolina are headed to the Mediterranean Sea near Libya to be in position should they be needed for any mission involving Libya.

Defense Secretary Robert Gates has ordered U.S. Warships and military personnel to that area.

A Department of Defense spokesman says those marines, believed to be about 400, are from the 1st battalion, 2nd marine regiment, II marine expeditionary force from Camp Lejeune. They will augment and support the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit aboard the USS Kearsarge and the USS Ponce.
