Jury Convicts Onslow County Man Of Murder

It took an Onslow County jury less than 90 minutes to convict Ryan Casler of first degree murder.

Jurors began their deliberations around 11:15 and returned with a guilty verdict around 12:40 p.m.

Casler was accused of stabbing Joseph Wells III 30 times with a knife.

In closing arguments Friday morning, District Attorney Ernie Lee told jurors Wells' death was premeditated because he grabbed a bag of clothes before he left and changed after the killing as well as hiding the weapon. Casler's attorney, Wally Paramore, told jurors his client was so intoxicated that he didn't know what he was doing and acted out of rage.

After the verdict Wells' family said they felt justice had been served. When asked before sentencing if he had anything to say, Casler said no.

Casler will receive an automatic life without parole prison sentence.

This guy is the scum of the earth. I let this man stay in my house for a few weeks, long before this happened. To think I let him be near my family. Glad he got caught, glad justice was served, glad I wasn't the one who made the decision of punishment though..... Joe was an awesome guy. Have many good memories.

Now we get to feed and clothe him for the rest of his life.....well, 'til liberals say his old and harmless...then we'll let him out and have to give him Social Security...or some type of disability...Hell, while he's in the pen, he might SUE us taxpayers repeatedly...over and over...didn't get a biscuit...sue....didn't get to watch all of that family guy episode....sue....yes, our "criminal" justice system will somehow "reform" him.... Personally, I'd a strung 'im up and got it over with right after the trial and ONE appeal....but that was the bygone days of true justice. The only thing that happened in court was that a few lawyers got a payday from us taxpayers....
