UPDATE: Second Morehead City Shooting Suspect Arrested

Officers have arrested a second suspect for the shooting of a 51-year-old man in Morehead City Friday night.

23-year-old Octavian Godette of Morehead City was apprehended at the New Bern bus station around 7 p.m. Sunday.

Godette is charged with attempted first degree murder, conspiracy to commit first degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and shooting into an occupied dwelling.

Officers have arrested a suspect for a shooting in Morehead City Friday night. They continue to search for another suspect on the loose.

22-year-old Timothy Reels, Jr. was arrested in Craven County. He is now in the Carteret County Jail. He is charged with attempted first degree murder, discharging a weapon in an occupied property, and felony conspiracy. He was given a $250 thousand dollar bond.

The shooting happened at a home on Avery street around 11 p.m. Friday night. 51-year-old Freddie Gibbs was injured in the shooting, he is now in the hospital.

No further details have been released about what led to the shooting.

Lawmen are investigating a shooting they say happened just before eleven Friday night at 1508 Avery Street in Morehead City.

They say the victim Freddie Gibbs was shot once. Gibbs was airlifted to Pitt County Memorial Hospital, his condition is unknown.

Officers are looking for two suspects who they say fled the scene.

    Can't believe he isn't buried under the jail. Look at the court docket, wonder what he is doing out of jail after those charges

    Well Morehead has tranforemed into junkie haven, the past few year . I know some elderly that no longer goto eat or shop there because of the problems even in plain site. WHITCH WOULD BRING SALES DOWN FOR THE AREA.

      That's not true at all, although it does seem that crime, both violent and drug related, seem to be up throughout ENC. For as much money as tax payers spend on police (we just spent $millions$ on a new police station) I don't see any increase in police presence here in town. But that's Mayor Jerry Jones for you, spend taxpayers' money for worthless pet projects and give the taxpayers nothing in return.

    According to the JDNews, this clown was supposed to go to trial soon for rape and assault. Couldn't wait to get to prison before he commited another crime. Judge is gonna max this one out I hope.

    i really hope Mr.Gibbs and his family make it thru this tragedy.Im glad that the child wasnt harmed in this sinceless act
