A Morehead City man now has to come up with more cash to get out of jail after a judge raised his bond in a baseball bat assault case.

According to the Carteret News Times, 20-year-old Tyler Guiendon of Morehead City is charged with beating a man with a baseball bat over the weekend and robbing him.

Investigators tell the paper Guiendon arranged to meet 21-year-old Jeremy Joyce at 4:50 a.m. Sunday near the Professional Park Apartments off Bridges Street in Morehead City.

Once there, police tell reporters, Guiendon beat the Newport man severely with a baseball bat and robbed him of an undisclosed amount of cash.

Guiendon made a court appearance Tuesday where the victim's father told the judge his son was is being evaluated by a plastic surgeon for reconstructive surgery because of the beating, according to the paper. The father said his son suffered facial fracture, a shattered eye orbit, and broken jaw.

Reports say a judge raised Guiendon's bond to $500,000.

Court records show the 20-year-old is due back in court on November 8th for charges of assault with a deadly weapon intent to kill and robbery with a dangerous weapon.
