A hot air mass has enveloped eastern North Carolina and it should persist through the week. Afternoon highs will hit the middle 90s across most inland communities Tuesday afternoon with overnight lows near 70°. There could a stray thunderstorm but most locations will remain dry. We may drop a few degrees Wednesday but the heat will likely rebuild late in the week.
