Even though a few thunderstorms helped dent the heat late Thursday across eastern North Carolina, more heat and humidity will return for Friday. Highs will hit the lower 90s except middle to upper 80s along the beaches. The combination of temperature and humidity will send heat indices into the middle to upper 90s during the afternoon. There will a decent amount of sunshine with a 20% risk of a shower or thunderstorm during the afternoon. More of the same can be expected for Saturday and Sunday.
