Miss Kinston-Lenoir Crowned Miss North Carolina

Arlie Honeycutt, Miss Kinston-Lenoir, won the Miss North Carolina 2012 title Saturday night at Memorial Auditorium.

Honeycutt edged out Bindhu Pamarthi, Miss Johnston County, to take home the $15,000 scholarship award given to the winner. As first runner-up, Pamarthi will receive a $5,000 scholarship.

Honeycutt is a junior at East Carolina University in Greenville, where she is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in vocal performance. Honeycutt will have to put her education on hold as she prepares to compete in Miss America 2013 in Las Vegas in January.

Her platform is “The Domino Effect – Inspiring Volunteerism One Person at a Time” to encourage individuals to use their personal gifts and interests in volunteer service as an example to inspire others to do the same.

Rounding out the final five were second runner-up, Jessie Smith, Miss Tarheel; third runner-up, Brooklyne Williamson, Miss Central Carolina; and fourth runner-up, Mya Kayler, Miss Queen City. The rest of the top eleven competitors were Emily Huneycutt, Miss Concord; Johna Edwards, Miss Garner; Blair Mozingo, Miss Goldsboro; Kensley Leonard, Miss Greater Sandhills; Maddison Sheppard, Miss Mecklenburg County; and Amanda Sowards, Miss Raleigh.
