A strong cold front will push into eastern North Carolina on Thursday bringing showers and thunderstorms. Some the storms may become severe during the day as the atmosphere becomes more unstable. The primary threat will be isolated tornadoes, small hail and damaging winds in excess of 50 mph. Highs will reach the upper 60s Thursday before cooler air arrives at night. The showers should end Thursday night followed by clearing skies for Friday with highs in the upper 50s. Sunny skies are expected for the weekend.
