Middle Schoolers' Raise Hundreds To Benefit Students Displaced By Tornadoes

One middle school in the east had a fundraiser to benefit another school destroyed by the April 16th tornadoes.

Hope Middle School in Pitt county had "Go Green for Greene County
Day" to benefit Greene County Middle School. Hope students had the opportunity to wear jeans, a green shirt and a hat in exchange for a dollar donation for each piece they wear.

"We have 700 kids in the school, and we raised $800 dollars. Since we're doing three things, each child could do more than $1," said 7th grader Anna Prevatte.

"It feels good to know that we actually helped out, and hopefully this will be a ripple effect and other schools will also do the same," said 6th grader Conner Christian.

Students at Greene Middle School have moved into the high school to finish out the school year.

I have sent letters out to area Board of Education offices to see if their school systems would do individual school projects to benefit the needs of families/schools affected by the tornado outbreak. I gave individual breakdowns of how one school to do household needs, animal needs, infant/toddlers, bath and body, linen drive, adopt a class/teacher but have not heard anything yet. Just image how much we could help just by visiting the Dollar Tree. If anyone is interested they can email me.

I am a teacher at Greene County Middle School and I could never thank you enough for thinking of our staff and students. This has been a very difficult journey for us but the outpouring of love and support from others has been incredibly humbling for all of us. In the mist of tragedy many times is when we see the kindness of the human spirit. God bless each of you and many thanks!

Thank you Hope Middle School. So good to hear that Greene Co. is getting help. Greene Co. does so much to help animal rescues in Pitt and Beaufort Co's with the spay/neuter certificates they give them.
