Memphis To Join Big East Conference Today

Sources say the Big East Conference will welcome Memphis today, fourth Conference USA school to make that switch.

he Tigers will join the Big east for the 2013-2014 season and will compete in all sports.

Houston, Central Florida and SMU have already left Conference USA for the Big East. ECU is now one of eight remaining schools in Conference USA.

WOW. Now the Big Least, in an attempt to salvage their mass exodus of power BASKETBALL programs has jumped at a Memphis team that isn't even the best in the sad C-USA and has a long road back to the successful days of Calipari. It was FOOTBALL that sparked all this conference realignment madness, and when the Big Least lost 'Cuse and Pitt (and WVU soon) they were left standing in the dark with neither football or basketball as headliner sports. Now they've added a Memphis football team that has played in just 5 bowls since 1971 and has only won 5 games in the past 3 years! Can you say pathetic? Yeah, good addition there Big Least. If UConn had any decent history of football they'd be gone too. How the Big Least will keep it's BCS AQ status after this embarassing addition is beyond me, and honestly I'm extremely glad ECU doesn't have to suffer the mockery soon to be heaped on those former C-USA teams when the NCAA busts them back down to their former non-qualifying nobody status. It's crazy that they took a bad situation and made it worse by adding Memphis. C-USA football is actually better without that team stinking it up. Meanwhile Southern Miss goes 12-2 in football and is now 21-3 in basketball but can't get a sniff JUST because of geography. Well geography never won a game!

If the Big East really wants to be a failure, they would invite the little known ECU Pirates. BUT nobody wants the ENC TV market because it is so poor.

Big East took them because of TV Market & Basketball program. Having Fred Smith Of Fed-X pushing surely helped also. Don't think Memphis can play Winning Football at Big East Level.

Does it really matter why they took them? Bottom line is whatever the reasons are they were good enough to be invited, quit bashing other schools because your school didnt measure up, GEEEEZ

ECU didn't measure up??? You think this has anything to do with sports? Memphis football went 3-21 in the past two seasons!!!! It's not that the Big East does not want ECU, they don't want Eastern North Carolina this has nothing to do with sports. If that was the case then ECU would have been invited before UCF, USM and now Memphis. Get a clue!!!!

If they are going to fail why are schools going there? ECU would jump at the chance to join but they havent been invited to the party? Who is the failure here? LOL

Because these schools are in hope of having the BCS tag and more money. They aren't look at the long term picture only what can you do for me in the next year or 2. Use a little commen sense it goes a long way.
