Camp Lejeune Marine Latest Afghan Casualty

Another Camp Lejeune Marine has died in fighting in Afghanistan.

The body of Staff Sergeant Stacy Green was returned to the United States early Monday at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.

The Pentagon says Green was killed Friday in combat in the Helmand province. The 34-year-old was from Alexander City, Alabama and assigned to the 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment at Camp Lejeune.

Green will be buried Saturday in his hometown.

    I was shocked to learn about Stacy's death in the Enterprise Sun. We dated back in high school. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. He was a truly great person and will be missed.
