Many Participate In Walk MS

Hundreds came together in Pitt County Saturday to walk for a good cause.

Organizers say around 600 people participated in this year’s Walk MS. The goal this year was to raise $55,000 dollars by June 1st.

WITN News Sunrise Anchor Heather King was among one of the many participating in the event.

Also participating, Pitt County Deputy Tim Peaden, who was recently diagnosed with MS. He says with the support of the sheriff’s office he has been reaching out to people to try to raise money for the disease and awareness.

Peaden says, “I do not think words can describe. Being a victim of MS and having friends and family come out for this event. It is great.”

MS affects more than four hundred thousand people in the U.S. and 2.5 million worldwide.
