Murder Arrest Made After Body Found In Rocky Mount

Police arrested 27-year-old Matthew Keith Hutcheson early Thursday morning and charged him with the murder of Duwone Parker of Rocky Mount.

Parker's body was found by a passer-by in a wooded area in the 3700 block of Greystone Drive Wednesday morning. Parker's mother reported him missing Wednesday at 4:38 p.m. after the 32-year-old man had already been found dead. Parker was last seen by family on February 25th at 619 Raleigh Road in Rocky Mount.

Officers served an arrest warrant on Hutcheson at 112 Charleston Court in Rocky Mount at approximately 4:15 a.m Thursday. He is charged with first degree murder and has been issued no bond. He's being held at the Nash County Jail.

PREVIOUS STORY (3/2/11):
Rocky Mount police say a man walking his dog Wednesday morning found a body in the woods Around 7:30 a.m. in the 3700 block of Greystone Drive, that's near the I-95 and Highway 64 interchange.

Police say the body has been identified as 32-year-old Duwone Vondel Parker, of Rocky Mount.

Parker's mother reported him missing Wednesday at 4:38 p.m. at the Rocky Mount Police Department. Parker was last seen by family on February 25.

The body has been taken to the Pitt County Medical Examiner's Office to determine a cause of death.

Police call this an active homicide investigation and more information will be released as it becomes available.

    These people I would say are ALL THE criminals and murders in Rocky Mount. As well as the police. Its bad when you are safer on the streets of Durham than Rocky Mount.

    No matter what the sisuation is no one once to loose their child.When you take someone else life it effects the victim family and the murder family.So you have to be careful wat u do others because u never know wat someone might to do to you.Parker family keep your head up and stay strong.MORNING FAMILY LOVES YOU!

    I feel sorry for both families. If convicted two mothers have lost sons. Hutchinson's mom is a wonderful mom...the situation is sad.

    My prayers go out to the family of the deceased!! I only wish that ppl were more concerned with justice for the family members rather than bashing the city of Rmt!!

    Crime per capita, Rocky Mount was one of the top if not the top crime cities in the state in 2010.
