Police say a robber tried to hold up a cab driver in Jacksonville early Wednesday morning.
Jacksonville Police got the call at 1:35 a.m. and responded to the 2000 Block of South Drive in the New River area of the city. The cab driver told police he had been called to pick someone up from a home on that block, but couldn't find anyone there when he arrived. He was starting to leave when someone started banging on his window. The cab driver says he saw a man pointing a handgun at him, demanding his money.
Police say the cab driver put his car in reverse and sped away as the suspect fired a shot into the driver side window. The cab driver got away uninjured and the suspect fled.
The suspect is described as a black man with a medium complexion, a tall and slender build with a thin mustache. The suspect was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a black "doo rag" on his head.
