Man Shot At As He Stops To Help At Car Wreck

A man trying to help a driver who crashed on the Grimesland Bridge spoke to WITN about the bizarre ordeal, that almost cost him his life.

Tuan Luong Tran says he left his job, as a nail technician, Tuesday night to check on other stores. At the Grimesland Bridge in Pitt County he saw a car that crashed into the guard rail of the bridge. Luong Tran says the man inside, 36-year-old Jonathan Kremkau, was struggling to get out. Luong Tran says he got out to help, heard gunshots, and realized the man in the car was shooting at him. Bullets hit his door and windshield.

"95% of the time, I actually pull over to help people it doesn't matter what time of day it is, if you have your hazards on i most likely gonna pull over now this changed my outlook on that, i could have lost my life," said Luong Tran.

Kremkau has been hospitalized and charged with assault with deadly weapon with intent to kill.

ridiculous is all i have to say... this man was only trying to help and being in this situation could cause him to question to help someone else in the future who could possibly actually benefit from his help. what a sad situation and world it is today.

Lesson Learned. Next time just call 911 and report it to police.

Clear case of life imitating art. I bet that guy in Dumb & Dumber wanted to shoot Lloyd Christmas trying to give him C.P.R in that restaraunt.

This is CRAZY. The man in the accident should go to jail. I cannot believe all the weirdos there are out there. To hurt a person that is trying to help you is OBSCENE.

The dude was also charged with having drugs in the car, he was probably stoned out of his mind, thought Mr. Tran was the law coming to get him.

First, he crashed into a guardrail. Personally, think there may well be drugs involved. As in cocaine paranoia possibly. Hopefully the cops know the deal. Evaluate a situation well before trying to help. What have we become if we can't help others in need.

Please update this story. Why did the man feel the need to shoot at the Samaritan? Lets dig into this. More than meets the eye here I believe.

We need more people in the world like Mr. Luong Tran. I can't believe on how bad our nation has gotten. Almost everywhere you go now you see people carrying guns. The places that I used to think are the safest places to shop now are not. Everyone needs to come together and stop acting so stupid. This incident almost cost this mans life that was only trying to help someone that he thought was in need. Now this is going to affect someone that might really need his help in the future. I think that Mr. Luong Tran is a true HERO. He risk his life to help others.
