Community College Campus Locked Down After Gun Scare

A community college was placed on lockdown for about 20 minutes after there was a report of a possible gun on campus.

Craven Community College spokesman Sandy Wall tells WITN news it apparently stemmed from a domestic dispute between two men and a woman. He says their resource officer spotted the man's vehicle as it left campus around 11:15 a.m.

Wall says as a precaution the college was locked down until they were sure the man was not coming back. He says no gun was actually seen by officers and the man in question was not a student at the school.

The campus returned to normal around 11:30 a.m.

Hey I was on campus giving national testing today. 20 minutes? What a crock of.....It was 1 hr and 20 minutes we were in lock down. As was told on campus a man left another facility close by after a domestic dispute occurred and headed towards our building to get away from the police. We were under tables, lights out and doors locked on first notice from overhead speaker. There is nothing like spending that much time on a hard concrete floor to appreciate stupid people SHOULD NOT CARRY GUNS WHEN UPSET OR BREATHE They waste valuable air I need.!!!!!

How is it a gun scare if a gun was never seen? Did someone just yell GUN? Is this like someone yelling fire and it making the news as a "fire scare?"

I often carry a concealed weapon because a policeman won't fit under my coat.

When seconds count, the police are only minutes away.

You should be allowed to carry a concealed pistol on campus anyways as long as the person has a concealed pistol permit and is qualified through state standards. Just imagine if Virginia tech would have allowed law abiding citizens their 2nd amendments right some one could have stopped the mad man. North Carolina is way behind times not trusting their own law abiding citizens to protect themselves. the police cannot be every where plus these gun free zones are more like blinking bill bords to criminals

you hit the nail on the head. If we can't trust the law abiding citizens, then we might as well disband this entire country.
