Man In Custody After Police Chase, Crash In Church Parking Lot

A man is in custody after police say he refused to stop his vehicle for police this afternoon and then crashed his vehicle into another car in a church parking lot.

Jacksonville police say they responded to a domestic call, and the man left the scene in a vehicle.

A witness reports once the man crashed in the Blue Creek Baptist church parking lot on Highway 53, the man tried to get inside the church when he was tackled and taken into custody by police.

There is no word on the identity of the suspect.

    I was there INSIDE the church, folks, and it was anything but funny! Thank God the door was locked, and the man couldn't get in. My deep gratitude goes out to the two NC state troopers and the seven members of the Jacksonville police who were there in a matter of seconds.

    Christians DON"T have "diplomatic immunity"? LOL I thought Church Parking Lots were likened to our consolate offices.

    Waht was he hoping to accoplish by running into the church?? Was he going tio go in and claim "Sanctuary" like the girl on the hunch back of notre dam? Too funny......
