Individual Found Dead After Missing Person Report

An extensive search for a missing person in the east Friday ended with a body found in a pond.

Martin County Sheriff's officials are not releasing the name of the person found dead and are not saying if it was a man or a woman, but they say there are no signs of foul play.

Martin County Sheriff's Office Lieutenant Drew Robinson says the report of a missing person came in between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Friday afternoon from a family member of the missing person from a home at 8920 U.S. Highway 17 in Williamston.

A helicopter, bloodhound, and about a dozen volunteers on foot searched several hours before finding the body in a pond near the house about 5:20 p.m. in the afternoon.

Deputies are waiting for autopsy results to determine if the death was accidental or not- but again they say there are no clear signs of foul play.

WITN: Ur methods of reporting to get us to "hurry back" for "the rest of the story" is insane! Either report what U know or don't report at all until U get ALL the facts. It really leads to a lot of BOZO assumptions on here and there is a family out there greiving and some of them R reading his JUNK. I'm just sayin' how would like the way this is reported and commnented on if it was your family?

Yes, that is the house. Randy Evans lived there. He was known as little Bert as his father's name was Bert Evans. Praying for the family. Hoping it is not "little Bert" but it doesn't look good.
