Man Dies After Boats Collides In Gulf Of Mexico

An eastern Carolina man is dead after his fishing boat collided with another vessel in the Gulf of Mexico.

Thomas L. "Tommy" Moore, 64, of North Harlowe, was aboard the Sandy Point when it collided with a 660 foot container ship. The ship was more than four times the size of the Sandy Point.

The smaller fishing boat sank, but 13 people on board were able to safely make it to shore.
