Arrest Made In Rocky Mount Bank Robbery

There's been another bank robbery in the Rocky Mount area, and this time an arrest has been made.

It happened around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the RBC Centura Bank on North Fairview Road. Police say Robert Jones came into the bank and passed a note, demanding money. The robber then left the bank in a silver Ford Mustang.

Rocky Mount police nabbed the 36-year-old Jones a few hours later after identifying him through their investigation.

No one was injured in the bank robbery and Jones has been charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon. Bond was set at $25,000.

One Tuesday a First South Bank branch was robbed in Dortches. In that robbery a teller was assaulted and a man was shot by the robber as he made his getaway. No arrests have been made in that robbery and Nash County deputies do not believe the two robberies are connected.

He got the idea from the other bank robber that actually was successful, I doubt they will catch him. He saw it on the news, and was like, duh, I can do that!

I know this guy and I know this sounds crazy but he is really a very nice guy and I would have never believed in a million years that he would have done this!!! I still can't. I am praying for him and his family as this HAD to be a desperate move. No, I am not condoning his actions by NO means but it's just mind boggling. Just doesn't make sense at all.

If you successfully rob a bank, and get away with a lot of money; how can you buy expensive things like cars? Don't they check your credit and income? They are gonna know something is fishy when you have all this cash out of the blue.

They don't check anything if you walk in with cash.

People of all kinds keep getting braver and less concerned about committing crimes....why??? Because they know we have a LAME USELESS GOOD-FOR-NOTHING "justice" system that won't hand down much more than a slap on the wrist.

True, and some may be just giving up on life in a weird way. Rob a bank, go to jail and have your physical needs all met for awhile. They get out, can't handle it outside, and commit another crime to get back in.

Back in the 1800s, this was a crime that you could get away with easily. Now with the cameras/computers & police force we have today, you might as well walk right into prison. It would be stupid to think you can get away with it.... You're more likely to be hit by lightning.
