A man is charged for stealing a car in the east- with a toddler inside. The child's family has been waiting four and a half years for the arrest.
35-year-old Toby Leonard is charged with larceny of a motor vehicle. Rocky Mount police detectives say he stole a car that was left running in front of Cousin's Food Mart on West Ridge Street in November 2006. A 2-year-old girl was asleep in the back seat of the car.
The suspect abandoned the car in Richmond, Virginia with the girl inside. She was not injured. Recent evidence linked Leonard to the case. He is already serving a 14 year prison sentence for unrelated charges in North Carolina.
