Man Accused Of Breaking Into Prison Building

A man has been arrested and charged with breaking into a prison building.

Rocky Mount police say it happened early Sunday morning at Fountain Correctional Center for Women.

Richard Alston is charged with misdemeanor breaking and entering and possession of marijuana. Police say prison personnel found the man inside a guard building around 3:50 a.m.

The building is near a crosswalk that runs between the two fenced-in areas of the prison. The prison is off Highway 301. Officials report Alston was walking.

Prison officials say they do not think Alston was trying to get into the prison to see a woman.

The 22-year-old man was released on a $2,000 bond.

Now we know just how lame our judicial system is when folks starting trying to break into prison instead of breaking out. Hey....3 hots, a cot, cable tv, hvac, exercise facility,etc.... it's a 5 star resort to this guy.
