Low-Flying Plane Over Greenville

Greenville city officials say people should not be alarmed if they see a low-flying plane over Greenville today. The plane will be conducting flights to take pictures needed in the design of the Tenth St. Connector Project.

The plane will be most noticeable in the West Greenville area and near Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

The Tenth St. Connector Project will connect the hospital with downtown Greenville. Construction is slated to begin in Fall 2014.

This is more than just aerial photography. Not to sound mean or anything like that but this flight provides alot more in depth information that you might not necessarily understand, which saves alot of project design cost. And yes there are projects that are designed w/o having to fly but usually these are cut and dry projects without many upgrades to the existing road. But for this size of a job flying the project is pretty essiential to the project for creating a Digital Terrain Model. And to pitt tax I can't explain why they put down the reflective markers in Novemeber if you would like an depth it would be better to call the Pitt County Maintence Engineer about that and he could better explain the reason than I could.

Only in Greenville could this be "news". What a pathetic place to live! Guess google earth decided that ENC was not worth the effort to map.

Waste: You mean like the other NCDOT projects where they had to do major repair work shortly after the road was completed, like I-40 and I-795? Anon: Actually, I am. I have a certificate in Geographic Information Systems from Penn State.

THis is a waste. There are plenty of projects that they get done without aerial photos. Someone wanted to either go for a joy ride in the plane or someones buddy is making money off this. More corruption in the eastern NC political game.
