A man who says he's run for congressional office covering 29 of our state's 100 counties has thrown his hat in the ring for state auditor.

Greg Dority is currently the chair of the Beaufort County Republican Party. He says he's built up quite a name for himself, running for congress twice in the 1st district in 2002 and 2004, for lieutenant governor in 2008 and for 12th district congressman in 2010, among other races. Dority says last week, state GOP Chairman Robin Hayes called him and encouraged him to get into the state auditor's race because having a strong conservative in the east that everyone recognizes will help Pat McCrory get elected governor.

"Senator Helms told me a long time ago no republican can win a statewide race in North Carolina without carrying the conservatives in the east, and we feel with an eastern conservative on the ticket, we can help drive the vote better for Pat," said Dority, (R) State Auditor Candidate.

Dority says he's not sure who he'll be running against yet. He says candidate filing starts next Monday.

...from some libs or malcontents. Sounds more like petty jealousy from these first posters.

I've known Greg for a long time and Greg has a long history of twisting rules and working the system. Let's tell him AGAIN that he is the type of person we are trying to get OUT of Raleigh. I won't say he is a loser, I'll let his record speak for itself.

The key is he has ran for office. I don't want him any where near our state office.

He has mad quiet a name for himself. This is the same man that slithered his way in to Williamston last summer during the Eastern North Carolina Babe Ruth All-star softball tournament and kept a group of 8 and 9 year olds, from Williamston, from playing softball in the state tournament. Get to know the real candidate.
