Local Marine In National Spotlight on NBC

A local Marine was in the national spotlight Sunday night as NBC and the NFL paused to remember 9/11.

Gunnery Sergeant Jeff Frank is a member of the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing Band based at Cherry Point in Craven County.

Just before the kickoff to the New York Jets/Dallas Cowboys game, Frank played taps live near Ground Zero.

Frank's performance was part of a weekend in New York, according to the band's facebook page.

The band played at other 9/11 related events, including a police memorial on Friday and an event at the Statue of Liberty on Saturday.
