Leslie, Harrow Lead NC State Past Elon 87-72

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) -- C.J. Leslie scored 19 points, fellow freshman Ryan Harrow added 17 and North Carolina State held off pesky Elon 87-72 on Wednesday night.

Tracy Smith scored 11 of his 15 points in the second half of his return to the starting lineup for the Wolfpack (10-4).

They twice trailed by 10 in the first half, but shot 62.5 percent (30 for 48) and used a strong second half to win their fourth straight heading into the start of Atlantic Coast Conference play this weekend.

Chris Long scored 20 points and hit five 3-pointers for Elon (6-8), which shot 47 percent from 3-point range but was denied its first victory against an ACC team since 2005, falling to 0-4 against that league this season.

Yow's Cows will not win the ACC much less make it to the big dance this year or other. Perhaps State should move to the Sun Belt, then maybe they might win a conference title.

To State hater, January 20, 2010. #6 Duke loses convincingly to NC State. When the team has their head in the game, they can beat anyone.

Life is going to be rough for poor ol' state once they start playing real college teams like Duke. Fortunately Duke is the only decent team the the ACC this year so State might actually win a few.
