Lenoir County Residents Busted For Pender County Meth Lab

Five Lenoir County residents are accused of running a meth lab that was found in Pender County.

Surf City police say they found the meth lab at a home on Cedar Avenue in Hampstead on Monday. Police say they seized lithium, sodium hydroxide, sulfuric acid and ammonium nitrate, along with as LP propane tanks and a generator.

Charged with manufacturing meth are: Justin Becton of Kinston, Christopher Grady of Pink Hill, Robert Tyndall of Deep Run, Porsha Malpass of La Grange, and Chelsea Cahoon of Kinston.

Police say all five are jailed on $75,000 bonds and say other charges are pending.

Life in prison is a little harsh. I know at least one of these guys & no, he's not the brightest bulb but he came from a good family. I'm surprised they didn't blow themselves up to be honest. I just feel horrible for their parents & families. Some people just start off on the wrong track & never get right again. Let's hope these girls can learn from this & move on with their lives. They are way too young to be caught up in this kind of situation & these kinds of associations.

To all the ones that are posting comments that are very unkind I hope this addiction never hits your love ones! I know a few of the guys and they were raised very well, that just have made some bad mistakes. I have a son that is 23 and since he was 14 we have tried to get him help anything from faith based rehabs even turning him in to the law before he turned 16 and would be an adult in the eyes of the law. The law told me they wanted him to become an adult so they could send him off for a long time! He was raised in a christan home and got caught up with the wrong crowd. But he will tell you it is his own fault. The law did what they wanted and busted him,he had $2,200 on him when he got busted and when we went to court they could only count for $1,200.00, so someone with the law made a profit, so how can our kids even look up to them for any help. Yes, they got what they wanted he is now serving 5 years in prison. Please watch what you post you reap what you sow! Please pray for them

Meth labs have become so popular in Lenoir County these folks had to go to Pender County to find work. Meth cookers are the only thing Lenoir County exports.

WOW..I agree that what they did was wrong and they should be punished for it but no one deserves to be taken out back and shot for anything. People should'nt be so harsh. You never know when something like this may hit close to your family. After all no one is perfect. Have some mercy on the family of these people who may read this! Im sure living with this is bad enough without all the cruel comments!
